This is a close up of the Texas Panhandle War Memorial entrance piece on the front it has the logos of all of the branches of the military. This is in honor of our men and women that gave their time and lives to preserve our American way of life. " No greater love hath a man that he lay down his life for a friend. On December 7, 1941, the USS Oklahoma was attacked and sank at Pearl Harbor. In all, 429 Sailors and Marines were killed. The ship was re-floated in 1943, but sank somewhere in the Pacific as it was being towed. The 10-ton anchor was recovered and brought to Oklahoma City, where it resides today. This anchor and historical monument stand as a reminder of those that died on the USS Oklahoma during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The following text is the inscription on the front of the historical marker that stands next to the anchor.

Oklahoma Veterans Memorial located by the State Capitol - This memorials was put in place in honor of the Oklahoma American Legion's 50th Anniversary on November 11, 1969.

The Knox County Veterans Memorial, located at the corner of U.S. Highway 82 and State Highway 6, honors all Knox County veterans from the Spanish-American War through current conflicts.
