Mickey Mantle is another Oklahoma sports treasure. He was born in Spavinaw, OK and attended school in Commerce, OK before becoming a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Mickey played in 12 World Series during his 18 year career with the Yankees and he led them to seven World Championships. Mickey still holds the record for most World Series home runs with 18 as well as several other World Series records. Today, he is still considered as the greatest switch hitter of all time. This statue of Mickey Mantle is located in front of Bricktown Ballpark in the Bricktown district of Oklahoma City. The granite base for the statue was made by Willis Granite Products.
